Young Enterprise Scotland YE Company Programme

Why this award?

Our Company Programme is the ultimate business and enterprise experience for S5/S6 pupils and is credit-rated at SCQF Level 6. Young people set-up and run their own company through the academic year with support from local business volunteers and Young Enterprise Scotland staff, with the opportunity to compete on a local, regional, national and European level to be crowned Company of the Year. They develop a wide range of skills and receive an invaluable entrepreneurial experience.

The business and enterprise experience takes place across the academic year and more than one Student Company can operate within one school. Learners receive support and advice from YE Scotland, guidance from local Business Mentors and assessment feedback from staff at Glasgow Kelvin College through their online learning portal “Moodle”. At the end of the year, they showcase the innovation, creativity and entrepreneurial attitude they have learned from running their own company.

Who is it for?

The Young Enterprise Scotland (YE Scotland) Company Programme Qualification is run in partnership with Glasgow Kelvin College and is aimed at budding entrepreneurs in S5 and S6.

What time commitment is required?

Participants are expected to attend a weekly meeting of their team between September – March, with additional time required to complete tasks and activities individually and as a group.

Is the award externally accredited?

Learners will be able to gain a qualification at the same SCQF Level as a Scottish Higher. The full course award is worth 26-30 Credit Points at SCQF Level 6.

All Company Programme pupils can also sit the reflective Strathclyde Business School ‘Exam’ which is offered in partnership with the University of Strathclyde Business School and the Hunter Centre for Entrepreneurship.
