Nature-based awards create opportunities to benefit from spending time enjoying, learning about and caring for nature. They provide:
- Hands-on, experiential and real-world learning experiences – mainly (but not solely) outdoors.
- Building valuable skills and knowledge – from practical capabilities and expanding environmental awareness, such as navigation, wildlife ID or path maintenance, to developing transferable skills, such as team work, communication and problem-solving.
- Thinking global, acting local – a chance to connect with climate and biodiversity crises, with Learning for Sustainability in action and be a positive force for change, through conservation work, advocacy and adopting sustainable choices.
- Connecting with nature to support individual health and wellbeing – from fresh air and increased physical activity, to tuning in to the wider world and creating positive headspace.
- Nature and wild places inspiring responses such as creativity, curiosity and connection.
