The SCQF Creative Thinking Qualification is designed to engage young people in interactive, immersive, project-based learning. It enhances creative problem-solving, critical thinking, and resilience—key skills for tackling future challenges. Delivered across an academic year (approximately six timetabled hours per week), the course is fully supported by our unique “Creative Playlists” resources.

Who is it for?

This qualification is tailored for learners aged 15–18, equipping them with the skills to succeed in their future academic and career journeys.

What time commitment is required?

The course spans an academic year (240 learning hours) and requires the completion of three challenges. Students achieving grades A–D across all learning outcomes (Research, Concepts, Fail & Fix, Communication, and Evaluation) earn 24 SCQF credit points at Level 5 or 6. Level 6 also provides UCAS tariff points, offering additional benefits for university applications.

Course Structure

● Three Playlists: Teachers can choose from Creative Bravery, Spaces & Places, or Survive & Thrive—each designed to align with class interests and needs.

● Three Challenges Per Playlist: Each playlist features three main challenges, encouraging students to apply creative thinking in meaningful contexts.

● Warm-Up Activities: Alongside the main challenges, playlists include engaging warm-up activities to keep students inspired throughout the year.

Is the award externally accredited?

Yes, this qualification offers 24 SCQF credit points at Level 5 or 6 and is credit-rated by Edinburgh Napier University. Recognised by several universities, including The Glasgow School of Art, Edinburgh Napier University, Edinburgh College of Art, and Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art & Design, it is part of their preferred admissions criteria.
