The Creative Media Passport gives young people a hands-on introduction to digital media by building their own creative media “company” from the ground up. Across seven modules they design a brand, tell stories, record audio, produce a podcast, take and edit photographs, and shoot and edit a short film, building a portfolio of real media work as they go.
Every module follows our Learn ▸ Create ▸ Share approach: short two-to-four-minute video tutorials, a practical creative project, then sharing work with peers, giving feedback and reflecting. Learners earn a digital badge for each module, building towards the full Passport.
All that’s needed is a smartphone or tablet, headphones and free editing apps, so the programme is open to every learner. It was developed with Learnovate (Trinity College Dublin) and an advisory board of teachers and Transition Year coordinators.

Young people from S3 upwards who are curious about media, film, design or content creation. No previous experience is needed. The CMP works in timetabled classes, senior-phase option columns, enrichment weeks and youth or after-school settings, and suits learners who show what they can do by making things.
Around 70 hours in total: 34 hours of guided sessions (usually one hour a week across the school year, or condensed into enrichment blocks) plus around 36 hours of independent project work. Teachers and youth leaders receive a full handbook, lesson plans, worksheets and onboarding from CDMI, and learners work through an online platform that tracks progress and issues badges.
